NDOT merges steps to speed I-11 decision

The planning process for the I-11 route through the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area entered a new phase, the Nevada Department of Transportation announced in April.

By winning federal approval to move to a Planning and Environmental Linkages study, the project is on a pathway to a final decision on the corridor route by May, 2022.

The existing I-11 moves north from the Arizona border to the intersection with I-515. The study area involves the route from that I-515 intersection to US 95 at Kyle Canyon Road northwest of the city.

NV DOT released a map showing three potential corridors for review.

“The reasonable corridor alternatives are evaluated during the process for environmental and social impacts, and potential avoidance, minimization, or mitigation measures will be identified,” the agency said.

Public meetings are planned for this summer with scheduling details to come.

Two possible routes through the Las Vegas Metro area remain in the discussion.
